The Youngstown Steel freeze Chattanooga in the Ice Castle thanks for former Youngstown State Penguin, Kevin Rader.

Christian Hackenberg helped lead the Steel on a 28-0 run starting at the 2:51 mark in the 1st quarter. Kevin Rader notched up two of those touchdowns from 13 and 29 yards out in both the 1st and 2nd quarter.

The Steel went up on Chattanooga 28-7 with 2:32 left in the 1st half. Luckily, the offense gave a huge lead because they failed to score the entire 2nd half, allowing Chattanooga to come back within 7 early in the 4th quarter.

The defense held strong in the 4th quarter and sealed the win 28-21 to bring the Steel back to .500 on the season and are now 4-4.

Dylan Hecker led the Steel on the ground with 58 yards and a touchdown, while Nelson Spruce led the Steel through the air attack with 87 yards and a touchdown. Hackenberg threw for 218 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Defense was led by Jamar Summers who had 10 tackles in the contest. Heath Harding balled out at Nickel, recording his first interception of the season during a crucial moment in their 28-0 run.

The Youngstown Steel play at home in Stambaugh Stadium for the second week in a row as they take on the Evansville River Otters  in Week 9.
