After just one season as the Utah Raptors Vice President of Football Operations, Alonzo Highsmith, Sr. accept the same position in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns. Highsmith got the Raptors to the playoffs in the franchises third season and first season in Utah. The Raptors missed the playoffs the past two seasons as the Phoenix Scorpions but were 10-6 this year and were in contention for the Pacific Division title until very late in the season.
Owner Corey Johns will take over football operations in coordination with head coach Ken Norton, Jr. while deciding if he wants to give the personnel divisions to Norton on a full-time basis or if he wants to hire a general manager.
“Alonzo is a great guy and quickly brought in a winning culture here. It’s no surprise the NFL came calling right away and we wish him well,” Johns said.
