The Arena League accepts their sixth team, the second northern city that will play in the new league. The team will go by the Atlantic City Sharks.

The Shaeks will be ran by the ownership group of the Atlanta Firebirds and the Milwaukee Warriors of the Spring Football League.  The team will play all their home games at the Boardwalk Hall, a 10,500-seat arena, the former home of the Atlantic City Blackjacks of the now defunct Arena Football League.

“I hold a great deal of affection in my heart for the original Arena League, and I’m thrilled to grab back a piece of that excitement,” said the Ownership Group. “TAL is a great chance to recapture that fast-pace action and give some talented players a chance to extend their gridiron careers.”

Sharks are tied to Atlantic City in two key ways, both in the card sharks who proliferate the casinos along the boardwalk and in the cold-blooded killers swimming off shore in the Atlantic Ocean.

“It’s hard to capture the aura of Atlantic City, but I think the Sharks will do just that. For the colors, I wanted to pick a vibrant combination that is unique and truly AC’s own,” the Ownership Group stated.

The Arena League is set to be the premiere arena league around the world. The inaugural season will begin directly after the SFL Championship in August with 8 teams around the United States and Mexico.
