The Arena League heads to Memphis, Tennessee to add their second team to the league. The team will go by the Memphis Blues.

The Blues will be ran by the same ownership group as the Jacksonville Stingrays and San Antonio Marshalls of the Spring Football League. The team will play all their home games at FedExForum, a 16,411-seat arena, home of the Memphis Grizzlies.

“Arena football is exciting, it’s indoor football.” the Ownership Group said. “I wanted to own an Arena team mostly to give back to Memphis as well as having the ability to scout more players for the SFL and the D-League.”

Memphis is a great city, it has its ups and downs, sure, but the people of Memphis are hard working, blue collar people and the city has a vibe of true grit. It’s a “hustle” town and a sports city. It’s the home of the Blues, once figuratively, now literally.

“Half of my family are Tennesseans and my roots run deep in the state; Tennessee is in my blood.” said the Ownership Group when asked why Memphis, Tennessee was chosen for the team’s location.

The Arena League is set to be the premiere arena league around the world. The inaugural season will begin directly after the SFL Championship in August with 6 teams around the United States. Four more teams will be announced in the coming weeks.
