The Miami Mustangs fell to the Missisippi Cottonmouths in their first game as an expansion team. The Mustangs showed flashes of glory. But in the end fell to the Cottonmouths 30-16. Brad Kaaya in his career start as a Mustang played well. He threw for 260 yards and one touchdown. He finished the game with a 113.2 QB rating . His touchdown pass was a 18 yard pass to rookie Braxton Berrios. The two former Miami Hurricanes connected for the Mustangs first touch in team history. “Well think Brad did a great job under the conditions” Said Coach Fox. “He had a rought time getting away from the defenders as he was saacked 2 times. We have to play much better on the offensive line. we have to protect our Quarterback if we plan to win game”.
Nick Folk had a great game as he became the first plaey in Mustang history to score. Nick went 3-3 for feild goals and 1-1 in xtra points for a total of 10 points. “We couldnt have asked any better of Nick. He came through when we needed him the most.” Said Coach Fox. “We had a few high points in the game but all in all we have a lot of work to do. three sacks is never a good thing, those three sacks cost us 21 yards. We also had 8 penalties for 69 yards. thats the kind of stuff that kills a game. 4 missed tackles, 3 dropped passes. One of our high points was having the ball 30:47 of the game. The lack of first downs tho is a problem as we went 4-13 first downs.
The Mustangs look forward to their next game on the road against Pittsburgh. In week one Pittsburgh squeaked by the Seattle Orcas. 19-14.
