The Youngstown Steel could not get it done on their road trip to the island of Puerto Rico.
As the Steel fans watched, many had smiles on their faces the entire game until the fourth quarter. At the end of the third, the fans who traveled to Puerto Rico started to leave to get to the beach after they were winning 24-14.
Christian Hackenberg to Nelson Spruce was a sight to see once again as the two connected on 2 different occasions in the 1st and 2nd quarters. Daniel Martinez hit a field goal followed up by a 6 yard run by former Toledo Rocket, Terry Swanson to give the Steel a big lead heading unto the 4th.
Unfortunately, the defense could not hold strong and the offense could not put up a single point to end up with the loss, 28-24.
Spruce, the leading receiver on the year led the team once again with 61 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dylan Hecker led the team on the ground and he reached over 100 yards. The Offensive Line, led by former Gannon two way athlete, Andrew Peirson, allowed 0 sacks and 178 yards rushing.
On defense, Andy Smigiera had an interception while Luke Carrezola led the team in tackles for the first time this season with 9. There were two forced fumbles in the matchup, one by Brett Taylor and the other by KeShun Freeman.
The Youngstown Steel are now back to .500 and cannot get past the middle of the road in the division. They are back at home in Week 11 as they play the Shreveport-Bossier Freedom.
