Weston Steelhammer became the Youngstown Steel‘s All-Time Leading tackler in their win over Fox Valley.

Christian Hackenberg led the charge with three touchdown passes in the first half giving the Steel a 21-7 lead. After Fox Valley’s Austin Breunig ran one in to make it a one score game, Lamar Jordan struck back with a 28 yard run going up 28-14 at half.

Fox Valley owned the show in the 2nd half thanks to Brett Kasper andAustin Breunig, but it wasn’t enough as Hackenberg tossed his fourth touchdown  with 8:24 left in the game. This would be the last score as the Steel clinched with win 38-27.

Dylan Hecker was the star of the game as he ran for 137 yards in his former stadium at UW-Oshkosh. Christian Hackenberg finished the game with a career high 396 yards and 4 touchdowns. Nelson Spruce hauled in 201 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

The defense was led by Steelhammer as he led the team with 8 tackles giving him the record.

The Youngstown Steel will play their first home game in Week 3 against Halifax.
